RomiRomi: Are you trying to hurt me?

RomiRomi can often hurt. We use bodyweight, elbows, feet, knees, hands and force to help move energies that are trapped in areas that other bodywork practitioners may not venture.

Similar to the foundations of Yin Yoga, the concept of RomiRomi is that any resistance or pain one feels represents the movement of emotional stagnancy that is trapped in the body. In being present to the feeling, releases occur. Unlike Yin yoga, we encourage you to sound to clear your throat, to allow your body to have a response as it moves energy out of the body.

RomiRomi helps you face your fears. The moment of feeling your body carries you into your body. There is no where to run to. You are right here.
Recently someone asked me if I like sharing pain as I would smile when someone reacted, screamed or felt pain… I wanted to respond to this question, as I can imagine this is a question on many people’s minds.

The answer is no, I never aim to hurt. I am a healer first and foremost and I would never want to hurt anyone. Yet… How we show up on the table is often how we show up in life. Therefore…

I KNOW that the pain people experience on the table is helping them to meet the areas of their resistance.
I KNOW that the gasps, or sounds people make is the energy moving.
I KNOW the changes people experience after receiving sessions.
I KNOW that the pain is temporary.
I KNOW that physical pain can help us transmute mental pain.
& I KNOW, it’s not actually pain, it’s energy that shouldn’t be residing in the body.

This form of bodywork is not for everyone, and I really encourage you to tap in to see if it is for you. Learn to trust which practitioners are your practitioners. We all have different energies, different ways we work and share. Some of us are soft some of us are intense. Some of us are Tikanga Māori ~ others of us flow in our own vibe.

I view our sessions as deeply sacred and destined. I do my best to work out the part that I play for our time together in your journey. And I am committed to that.

All these reasons and more are why you will often see a smile on my face when someone is having a release.
